She and I had to get there early to get her registration packet (since we couldn't go the night before to pick it up) which made it nice not to be in such a rush. We set up her bike and gear in the transition area and then hung out on the beach. Braeden arrived not too much before the event began. Their group was the last to go (ages 6-9 girls) so we had to wait a bit longer than some. Emma did awesome at the swimming. She said it was hard since everyone was jammed together, plus they weren't in very deep water. She came out of the water if the top 10, but we definitely need to work on the transition if she does another one. Some kids obviously do these often... they throw their shirts and shoes on and go! Emma lost time here since she tried to dry herself and had tie shoes.
She ended up finishing in the middle of the pack - and I was extremely proud of her. She said swimming was her favorite part, running was her least favorite. Maybe next time we'll even do a little training!
